[Book Review] MAYBE SOMEDAY by Colleen Hoover

“Sometimes in life, we need a few bad days in order to keep the good ones in perspective.”

Guys, I finished Maybe Someday on my phone.

Yes, I just finished an ebook. Like, this is only the 5th ebook I actually finished in Kimsiang’s history of ebooks. Reading through the electronic screen has just been very hard for me. The main reason is that my eyesight is not that healthy and I’m severely short-sighted, therefore my eyes get tired easily and just can’t focus on the texts for hours on end, anyways, that’s not the point. Let’s get to what I think about this book!

Maybe Someday was the few exceptions that I just couldn’t help but kept scrolling because it was a very entertaining read.

Title: Maybe Someday

Author: Colleen Hoover

Pages: 385

Publication: March 18th 2014 by Atria Books

Genre: New Adult, Romance, Contemporary

|GoodReads|

Maybe Someday was about Sydney whom her boyfriend was cheating on with her best friend, resulting her with swollen hands because she punched them both and nowhere to stay for the night. Her deaf guitarist neighbor, Ridge, was kind enough to let her be his roommate as long as she helps him with his writer’s block.

“We try so hard to hide everything we’re really feeling from those who probably need to know our true feelings the most.”

First off, the characters are amazing. They are so realistic and down-to-earth yet very witty with their sarcasm, sass and the right on point humor. Plus, I love that Colleen Hoover writes about characters with disabilities, it’s very eye opening.

However, the characters are way too emotional, in my opinion, especially Sydney, she basically cries whenever her heart races a little more quickly than usual. One more thing, I didn’t like Ridge towards the end of the book, it was almost like he changed into another person ,and I don’t think I liked that ‘growth’. Also, I don’t feel like I know the characters all that much, yes, we were given background stories but it wasn’t enough, though that didn’t lessen how entertaining this book was.

Don’t even talk about the chemistry between the characters and the romance, I couldn’t take my eyes of the words. [Spoilers or maybe not, but read at your own risk]- [I still don’t quiet get how you can love someone and then fall hopelessly in love with another and are still sure you love the first person. Maybe because I haven’t experienced that sort of romance, but I don’t know, to me, I can’t even think of myself with anyone else other than the person I’m with.]

“There isn’t a doubt in my mind that we could be perfect for each others life, Sydney. It’s our lives that aren’t perfect for us.”

As for the writing style, it didn’t click with me at first, I don’t know why. It grew on me later and I flew through this book in a day nonetheless. I like her recent release, November 9 much more, writing style-wise.

The ending was amazing, just swoooooon.

Anddddd, the fact that this book focuses a lot on making music and stuffs, and that they actually recorded soundtracks for it is just nandhaiuwheija life and everything.

Maybe Someday – Griffin Peterson

“I failed miserably at trying not to fall in love with you.

I failed first.”

Overall, I gave this book a 4/5 stars. It was a quick romantic read and I definitely recommend it!

Book Tag | SUMMERTIME MADNESS BOOK TAG

Hello ladies and gents!

I know I’m a little bit late for this, but nevertheless thanks to UntamedShrews for the tag!

1. Show a book with a summery cover!

This cover is stunning, love it!, but the content is even more fabulous 😉

2.Pick one fictional place that would be the perfect destination for a summer vacation!

No explanation needed right? 😉 (I would stay there forever, not just for the summer)

3. You’re about to go on a flight to your summer vacation. But you want to read a book that lasts for the whole flight, what novella do you choose?

Any Rainbow Rowell (not Eleanor and Park if you don’t wanna cry on the plane)  and Stephanie Perkins books. Their books are light, funny and romantic. Me taste ;).

4. You have a case of summertime sadness. What happy book do you pick up to shine a smile on your face?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (It kinda got sadder and darker with every books, but the first one is perfect for an escape from reality)

5. You’re sitting at the beach all alone. Which fictional character would be your beach babe?

I’m gonna choose Rowan from the Throne of Glass series.

6. To match your ice cream, you want an icy cool sidekick. Which fictional side kick do you choose?

Ringer from The 5th Wave trilogy. Icy Cool, huh? She’s the one.

7. Share the Summertime Happiness! Who do you TAG?

I have seen this tag around quite alot. So I won’t be tagging anyone, but if you want to do it, please considered yourself tagged by me 🙂

Thanks for reading!

*Greetings*

I was tagged by the lovely Cristina over at My tiny obsessions to do The Summer book tag a few days ago. Check her blog out, she is amazing and talented!

And here are the questions:

  1. LEMONADE: PICK A BOOK THAT STARTED OFF BITTER BUT THEN GOT BETTER

18336965See my review here.

The beginning is obviously darker than the middle part and the ending. Even though I would love the story to be darker, it kinda got better.

(btw, in my opinion, lemonade doesnt get better in the end. I dont like lemon ==)

  1. GOLDEN SUN: PICK A BOOK THAT MADE YOU SMILE BEYOND COMPARE

11070668_477879615692885_247170814_oThis trilogy/companion series. No explanation needed ;). Though I’ll say Lola is my favorite XD.

  1. TROPICAL FLOWERS: PICK A BOOK SET IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY

23164927Well, not even a single YA book I have read have mentioned Cambodia much less set here. So….like MyTinyObsessions I will choose the book I’m currently reading which is The Fold by Peter Clines. And guys, this book….!!!!

  1. TREE SHADE: PICK A BOOK WHERE A MYSTERIOUS OR SHADY CHARACTER IS INTRODUCED

72486_originalRowan Whitethorn aka my love, from Heir of Fire by Sarah.J.Mass.

  1. BEACH SAND: PICK A BOOK THAT WAS GRAINY AND THE PLOT BARELY DEVELOPED

5664985I’m gonna go with this one. From the beginning to the end it’s the same old beach theme, and the characters barely developed.

  1. GREEN GRASS: PICK A CHARACTER(S) THAT WAS FULL OF LIFE, MAKING YOU SMILE

Untitled (1)Our Caption Thorne <3. Even in the worst of time, he still makes me laugh 😀

  1. WATERMELON: PICK A BOOK THAT HAD SOME JUICY SECRETS

Idk…maybe this:

IMG_8569Obviously there are loads of secrets in this book. (and the first book too)

  1. SUN HAT: PICK A BOOK WITH A VAST, BIG UNIVERSE/SETTING

20821306Because it’s the whole universe, they travel across the universe. It’s big right? XD
